The area of the municipality of Foča is adorned with high mountain massifs belonging to the mountain range of the Dinarides: Maglić, Zelengora, Vučevo, Volujak, Bioč, Ljubišnja. They are a real challenge for mountaineers, alpinists, recreationalists and all lovers of nature.
About MAGLIĆ
MAGLIĆ
The mountain is about 20 km southwest of Foča on the border of BH and Montenegro. Maglić is with its 2 386 m the highest peak in BH. It is surrounded on the north by Vučevo, on the west by Sutjeska, on the east by Piva and Mratinje, and on the south by Bioč.
Due to its steep hills this mountain has always been a challenge for professional mountaineers, athletes and adventurers.
It is covered with beech and coniferous forests, and the foot of the mountain and all the slopes are rich in water, of which the most important is Carav do, which never dries (to 2000 m, which is rare at these heights). At the very top of Maglić there is a border between RS-BH and Montenegro, where Trnovačko Lake is located, the most beautiful glacier lake in this area. The most favorite place for gathering mountaineers is on the lake, especially on the days of the Vidovdan uphill on Maglić.
About VUČEVO
VUČEVO
Vučevo is a spacious mountain plateau, surrounded on three sides by the canyons of Sutjeska, Drina and Piva, and with the fourth by high massif of Maglić.
The highest peak of Vučevo is the Planinica with its 1 876 m.
It is rich in forests, meadows and pastures, and for this reason it is centuries-old stay for the livestock in the summer months, when the Katuns come to life.
About VOLUJAK
VOLUJAK
Volujak is a mountain that connects to Maglić and has a number of peaks over 2 000 m (the largest is Vlasulja 2 337 m). In the northwest it borders the Sutjeska canyon, whose cliffs also separate the Volujak from Zelengora.
Volujak belongs to a series of high stone boulders, known to the people as the surfaces.
The base of the mountain is covered with mixed forests (beech, conifers), as well as pastures, and the tops were covered with white zircons.
It is very attractive for hikers.
About ZELENGORA
ZELENGORA
Zelengora (with the highest peak Bregoč of 2 014 m) is a mountainous area located in the southeastern part of RS and is an integral part of NP "Sutjeska".
For many, the most beautiful mountain in this area. It is spacious, vast, rich in woods, green pastures and water surfaces. Although there are numerous peaks on it (Vilinjak, Uglješin vrh, etc.). Zelengora is also a pitiful and mild mountain. The absolute opposite of Maglić and Volujak.
The special pride of Zelengora is given by its "mountain eyes" - clear glacier lakes, located at the very foothills of its peaks: Gornje and Donje Bare, Orlovačko, Kotlaničko, Štirinsko, Borilovačko, Crno and Bijelo jezero.
Zelengora is also a valuable and rich fund of game animals and rare plant species, many of which are endemic.
These characteristics indicate that this mountain represents an extraordinary place for hiking and mountaineering, as well as hunting.
There are also several renovated mountain lodges in the mountains, and every year in the first week of August there is a manifestation "Lakes of Zelengora" organized in order to promote the mountain and its beauty.
About LELIJA,LJUBIŠNJA & BIOČ
LELIJA,LJUBIŠNJA & BIOČ
The mountain parts of the Lelija, Ljubišnja and Bioč massifs have an altitude of 2,000 meters and belong to the group of high mountains. The highest peak is 2 238 m.
Their common characteristic is that they have plenty of beautiful views, they are cut across the canyon valleys and have lush vegetation.
In this whole area there is a diverse game that makes nature even more attractive and more attractive to tourists.
